Photoscape

Photoscape is a free image editor by MOOII TECH aimed at people who need quick photo fixes without learning Photoshop. It handles the stuff you actually do with photos - crop, resize, adjust brightness, add text, make collages. The original Photoscape is no longer developed, but Photoscape X continues as its successor on Windows and macOS.

The program opens into a hub with separate modules for different tasks. You pick what you want to do - edit a single photo, batch-process a folder, make a collage, create an animated GIF, or take a screenshot - and each module opens with just the tools relevant to that job.

What it does

The Editor tab is where you spend most time. Open a photo, and you get sliders for brightness, contrast, saturation, and color temperature. Cropping supports free selection or fixed aspect ratios (4:3, 16:9, 1:1 for Instagram). Resize works by pixel dimensions or percentage.

Batch editing (the "Batch" tab) lets you apply the same resize, filter, or rename operation to hundreds of photos at once. The Collage tool has grid templates where you drag photos into frames and adjust spacing. The animated GIF maker is basic - you add frames, set delay between them, and export.

For text overlays and stickers, go to Editor > Object > Text. You can position text anywhere on the image, change fonts, and add drop shadows. Nothing fancy, but it works for watermarks and social media captions.

Who it is for

Photoscape is for people who want to crop, resize, and adjust photos without opening a full editor like GIMP or Photoshop. If you batch-rename vacation photos, make quick collages, or add text to images for social media, it does the job. For anything involving layers or masking, you need something more advanced.
