PhotoFiltre Studio
PhotoFiltre Studio is a lightweight image editor for photo retouching, filters, and basic graphic work. It supports layers, selections, clone stamping, batch processing, and over a hundred built-in filters. It opens JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD, and ICO files. The paid version costs around 35 EUR; a free version called PhotoFiltre 7 exists with fewer features. Windows only.
What it does
Basic photo correction is straightforward: open an image and adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation through Image > Adjust. The filter library covers blur, sharpen, noise reduction, stylize effects, and textures - pick one, preview it, and apply.
Layer support lets you work with multiple image elements independently, each with adjustable opacity and blending modes. The clone stamp copies pixels from one area to another for removing blemishes or unwanted objects. Batch processing (Tools > Batch Process) applies the same operations to hundreds of files at once - resizing, format conversion, watermarks, or filter application.
The program loads fast and uses very little memory compared to GIMP or Photoshop. For quick photo fixes, it gets the job done without the complexity of a full editor.
Advantages
- Very lightweight and fast to load
- Over 100 built-in filters
- Batch processing for bulk photo operations
- Layer support with blending modes
Drawbacks
- Paid version costs 35 EUR; GIMP is free and more capable
- No RAW file support
- Limited compared to Photoshop or even GIMP for advanced work
- Windows only, no macOS or Linux version
Who it is for
PhotoFiltre Studio fits people who find GIMP overwhelming but need more than Paint. The batch processing is genuinely useful for resizing or converting many photos. If you need layer support and basic retouching without a learning curve, PhotoFiltre handles that well. For anything advanced, GIMP or Photopea (browser-based, free) offer more tools.
