CorelDRAW Graphics Suite

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite is a vector graphics package from Alludo (formerly Corel Corporation). It bundles CorelDRAW for vector illustration and page layout, Corel PHOTO-PAINT for bitmap editing, and Corel Font Manager for font organization. Available as a yearly subscription or a one-time perpetual license.

It runs on Windows, macOS, and through a browser for subscribers.

What it does

CorelDRAW handles vector illustration - draw shapes and curves with the Pen, Bezier, or Freehand tools, edit nodes with the Shape Tool (F10), and scale to any size without quality loss. For page layout, set up multi-page documents with text frames and image frames, managed through the Pages docker.

PowerTRACE converts raster images (photos, scanned logos) into editable vector graphics. Select a bitmap, go to Bitmaps > PowerTRACE, choose a tracing type (Logo, Detailed, or Line Art), and adjust the detail level. The AI background removal tool strips backgrounds from photos in one click while preserving fine details like hair.

Print preparation works in CMYK color mode (File > Document Properties > Color Mode: CMYK), and the Preflight tool (Tools > Preflight) catches common errors before you export to PDF/X for professional printing. Export supports PDF, SVG, EPS, AI, PNG, JPEG, and TIFF formats.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT opens directly from CorelDRAW for bitmap editing with layers, masks, and retouching tools. Edited images return to CorelDRAW automatically.

Who it is for

CorelDRAW is the standard tool for sign makers, print shops, and textile designers who have used it for decades. If your workflow involves vector illustration for print output, CorelDRAW's CMYK handling and print preparation are strong. For new users choosing between vector editors, Affinity Designer costs far less and covers most of the same ground. Inkscape is the free option, though it lacks CorelDRAW's print-specific features.
