AIDA64 Extreme
AIDA64 Extreme is a system information and benchmarking tool from FinalWire that provides detailed hardware identification, real-time sensor monitoring, CPU and memory benchmarks, and stress testing. It covers everything from processor specifications to fan speeds and voltage readings. Paid with a 30-day trial, Windows only.
What it does
The left panel organizes your entire system into categories. Computer > Summary gives you a full hardware overview in one screen: processor model, RAM capacity and speed, motherboard chipset, GPU, and storage devices with exact model numbers. Click deeper into any category and AIDA64 shows specifications that go far beyond what Windows Device Manager provides, including manufacturing details, firmware revisions, and supported instruction sets.
Sensor monitoring (Computer > Sensor) tracks temperatures for CPU, GPU, chipset, and storage drives alongside fan RPMs and voltage readings. All values update in real time. You can pin temperature icons to the system tray for quick monitoring without opening the full window. The System Stability Test (Tools > System Stability Test) pushes your CPU, FPU, cache, and memory to 100% load while you watch temperatures climb, which is the standard way to verify cooling performance after building or upgrading a PC.
Built-in benchmarks test CPU performance, memory read/write/copy speeds, and disk throughput. Results can be compared against a database of other processors. Reports covering hardware, software, and license keys export to TXT, HTML, or CSV.
Advantages
- Most detailed hardware identification available on Windows
- Real-time temperature, fan speed, and voltage monitoring
- Stress testing with simultaneous thermal monitoring
- Exportable reports in multiple formats for documentation
Drawbacks
- Paid software after 30-day trial expires
- HWiNFO provides similar sensor monitoring for free
- Benchmarks are less comprehensive than dedicated tools like Cinebench or CrystalDiskMark
- Windows only, no macOS or Linux version
Who it is for
I reach for AIDA64 Extreme when I need a single tool that identifies hardware, monitors sensors, and stress tests a system. PC builders use it to verify that new components run at correct speeds and temperatures. IT technicians use the reporting feature to document workstation configurations. If you only need sensor monitoring, HWiNFO does that for free. But for the combination of identification, benchmarking, stress testing, and reporting in one package, AIDA64 Extreme has no free equivalent.
