Pinnacle Studio
Pinnacle Studio is a video editor from Alludo (formerly Corel) aimed at home users and enthusiasts. It comes in three tiers: Standard ($54.95), Plus ($89.95), and Ultimate ($109.95), all as one-time purchases. The Ultimate version adds multicam editing with up to 6 cameras and stop motion animation.
Windows only.
What it does
Import clips from the Media panel and drag them onto the timeline. Trim by pulling clip edges, split with the scissors tool, and rearrange segments. The Effects tab has categories like 3D, Dissolve, and Wipe - drag a transition between clips and adjust its duration.
Color correction is available on any clip through the Editor panel: Tone Curve, HSL Tuning, and Color Wheel controls for brightness, contrast, and saturation. You can load LUT profiles for specific looks. The Title Editor provides 2D and 3D text templates with entry and exit animations, plus keyframe control for positioning.
The Ultimate version's multicam mode (Tools > Multicam) syncs up to 6 camera angles by audio or markers, then lets you switch between them by clicking the preview. Stop motion animation connects to a camera, captures frames one by one, and assembles them into a video at your chosen frame rate.
A built-in screen recorder (Tools > Screen Recorder) captures your desktop with an optional webcam overlay, and the recording drops directly onto the timeline.
Advantages
- One-time purchase, no subscription
- Multicam editing up to 6 cameras in Ultimate
- Stop motion animation built in
- Screen recorder included
Drawbacks
- Multicam and stop motion locked behind the most expensive tier
- Windows only, no macOS support
- Performance can be sluggish on large projects
- DaVinci Resolve offers more features for free
Who it is for
Pinnacle Studio fits home users who want more than basic editors like Clipchamp but are not ready for professional tools like Premiere Pro. The one-time pricing is appealing if you dislike subscriptions. The stop motion feature is unique among consumer editors and useful for hobbyists. For pure value, DaVinci Resolve does more for free, but Pinnacle's guided interface is friendlier for beginners.
