mp3DirectCut
mp3DirectCut is a lightweight MP3 editor that works directly on compressed audio data. It cuts, trims, splits, and joins MP3 files without decoding and re-encoding, so there is zero quality loss. The program is free, portable (runs without installation), and weighs under 1 MB. Windows only.
What it does
Open an MP3 file, select a section with the mouse, and cut or delete it. Save, and the file keeps its original audio quality because mp3DirectCut never decompresses the data. This makes it ideal for trimming silence from recordings or cutting specific sections out of podcasts.
The split function places markers (press B) at chosen points in the audio, then saves each section as a separate file. Pause detection (Special > Pause Detection) finds silent gaps automatically and sets markers there - useful for splitting album rips into individual tracks.
Volume normalization adjusts loudness without re-encoding. Fade in and fade out create smooth transitions at the start or end of a file. It also records audio directly to MP3 from any input source.
