IObit Uninstaller - Program Removal Tool
IObit Uninstaller is a program removal tool by IObit that does what Windows Add/Remove Programs does, except it also cleans up the leftover files and registry entries that the built-in uninstaller misses. The free version handles basic uninstalls with residual cleanup. The Pro version ($19.99/year) adds forced removal for stubborn software and real time install monitoring.
What it does
Select a program from the list and click Uninstall. IObit runs the program's own uninstaller first, then scans for leftover files, folders, and registry entries. You review what it found and confirm deletion. For programs that refuse to uninstall normally, the Force Uninstall option (Tools > Force Uninstall) lets you point at a folder or executable and remove everything related to it.
Batch uninstall lets you check multiple programs and remove them in sequence - handy for cleaning up a fresh Windows install full of bloatware. The Windows Apps tab lists preinstalled Microsoft Store apps (Xbox Game Bar, Mail, Weather) that you cannot remove through normal Settings. The browser extension cleanup tab scans Chrome, Firefox, and Edge for toolbars and add-ons.
Advantages
- Catches leftover files and registry entries after uninstall
- Batch removal saves time on multiple programs
- Can remove Windows Store apps that Settings won't let you touch
- Browser extension cleanup across all major browsers
Drawbacks
- Free version nags about upgrading to Pro
- Bundleware offers during IObit's own installation - use custom install
- Bulk Crap Uninstaller does similar things and is free and open source
- Windows only
Who it is for
IObit Uninstaller is useful if you install and remove software often and want to keep the system clean of leftovers. If you don't want to pay, Bulk Crap Uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller Free are solid alternatives that handle residual cleanup without a subscription.
