HUAWEI HiSuite
HUAWEI HiSuite is the official desktop companion for Huawei and Honor smartphones, connecting your phone to a Windows PC over USB for file transfers, backups, and system updates. It provides a graphical interface for managing contacts, photos, messages, and apps without touching the phone screen.
What it does
Connect a Huawei or Honor phone via USB, enable HDB mode in the phone settings, and HiSuite detects the device within seconds. The main screen shows storage usage and quick access buttons for Photos, Videos, Music, Contacts, Messages, and Apps. Clicking any category lets you browse and transfer files between phone and PC using drag and drop or Import/Export buttons.
The backup feature captures everything on the phone: contacts, call logs, SMS messages, photos, videos, apps, and system settings. You set a password for the backup file, and HiSuite stores it locally on your PC. Restoring works in reverse, useful when switching to a new Huawei phone or recovering after a factory reset. You pick which data categories to restore, so you can pull back contacts without overwriting newer photos.
System updates check for new firmware versions directly through HiSuite, bypassing the over the air update queue. This is often faster than waiting for the OTA notification, and HiSuite handles the download, verification, and installation automatically. The phone reboots when finished.
Advantages
- Full phone backup including apps, messages, and settings in one operation
- Firmware updates arrive faster through HiSuite than over the air
- Transfers large photo and video libraries faster than wireless methods
- Free to use with no feature restrictions or account requirements
Drawbacks
- Works only with Huawei and Honor devices, not other Android brands
- Requires enabling HDB mode on the phone, which confuses less technical users
- No wireless connection option, USB cable is mandatory
- Interface feels slow and unresponsive when managing thousands of photos
Who it is for
I recommend HiSuite to every Huawei phone owner as a backup tool. Even if you never transfer individual files, having a full phone backup on your PC before a system update or factory reset is worth the setup time. If you own a Samsung, Xiaomi, or other Android phone, HiSuite will not detect your device at all.
