4K Video Downloader+
4K Video Downloader+ is a desktop application for saving videos from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Dailymotion, and other platforms in resolutions up to 8K. It downloads individual videos, full playlists, entire channels, and can extract audio only to MP3, M4A, or OGG without keeping the video file.
What it does
Copy a YouTube link, click Paste Link in the application, and a dialog shows every available quality option from 360p up to 4K or 8K if the source supports it. Pick a resolution, choose between MP4 and MKV containers, and hit Download. For playlists, the same Paste Link button detects the playlist URL and presents options to download all videos at once in the selected quality. Channel downloads work the same way, pulling every public video from a creator's page.
The audio extraction mode skips video entirely. Paste a link, switch the format dropdown to Extract Audio, choose MP3 at your preferred bitrate (up to 320 kbps) or M4A/OGG, and download just the sound. This is practical for saving music, podcast episodes, or lecture recordings. The subtitle download option grabs available captions in your chosen language as a separate SRT file, or embeds them directly into an MKV container. A channel subscription feature monitors channels for new uploads and downloads them automatically when they appear.
Advantages
- Downloads in true 4K and 8K resolution when the source video supports it
- Handles full playlists and entire channels in a single operation
- Audio extraction to MP3 without downloading the video first
- Channel subscription mode auto-downloads new videos as they are published
Drawbacks
- Free version limits downloads to 30 per day and does not support playlist downloads
- YouTube frequently changes its backend, causing the app to break until the next update
- 8K and 60fps downloads produce very large files that require significant disk space
- Some region-restricted or age-gated videos fail to download without workarounds
Who it is for
I rely on 4K Video Downloader+ when I need offline copies of conference talks, tutorial playlists, or reference material that I want available without an internet connection. The playlist and channel download features save considerable time compared to grabbing videos one by one. If you only need an occasional single video, browser extensions or yt-dlp from the command line can handle that for free. But for regular bulk downloading with a visual interface, subtitle support, and automatic quality selection, this is the most polished desktop option I have used for that purpose.
